Abstract
Modern epic novels play an importantrole in the development process of literature, inwhich the journey motif shows the character'sjourney of challenge, change, and growth. Thearticle focuses on the journey of overcoming majorsocial events and earning sympathy with peopleand revolution of the characters through The Roadto Calvary (Alexei Tolstoy) and Even a Worm WillTurn (Vo bo - Nguyễn Đình Thi). It is thesejourneys that have opened up new life for all socialclasses. The article also generalizes the journeymotif as the center of epic novels with a focus onthese two works
