RURAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN THO SON COMMUNE, HON DAT DISTRICT, KIEN GIANG PROVINCE

Abstract

Tho Son commune (Hon Dat district)has much potential for developing rural tourism butlacks relevant research for such development. Thisstudy was conducted to analyze and evaluate thepotential and current situation and proposesolutions to develop rural tourism in the study area.Methods of secondary data collection andprocessing, field observations, questionnairesurvey, and structured interviews were used.Research results show that Tho Son commune hasvarious advantages, such as convenient location,diverse and attractive tourism resources, andfriendly locals, yet faces barriers, including thetransport system is not synchronized, tourismfacilities are not up to par, tourism workforce isweak and lacking, services and types of tourism arenot diversified, and the promotion of thedestination's image is still limited in rural tourismdevelopment. Some solutions to overcome theabove barriers are proposed with the hope ofproviding useful references in rural tourism.
