Developing community-based eco-tourism creates sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minorities: Evidence from the Northeast mountains of Vietnam
Abstract
With the goal of sustainable development, community-based ecotourism is considered as one of the effective tools to improve economic efficiency and contribute to improve the livelihoods of local communities, then, at the same time contribute to promote indigenous cultural values as well as natural tourism resources associated with the destination community. Therefore, developing community-based ecotourism is a priority policy of the Vietnamese Government today. This paper focuses on analyzing livelihood activities associated with community-based ecotourism in the Northeast mountainous region, thereby proposing solutions for master planning, management and linking businesses with the local communities in order to sustainably develop livelihood activities associated with the community-based ecotourism of the region.
