Abstract
Novel is actually seen as a kind of discourse which is produced under the control of many types of codes such as genre codes, linguistic codes, ideological codes, and historical codes. Within about 10 years after the war against America for the national reunification, Vietnamese novels have obtained remarkable achievements. They showed their own beauty, diversity and uniqueness, which make big differences compared to novels in the previous time. Therefore, many researchers have defined novels written in this period as post-war novels. Right after releasing, many novels have received strong attentions from the public. They are studied and analyzed from many different research approaches as ideological approach, poetic genre approach, or language innovation. In this article, we will present a systematic analysis of the above-mentioned research directions which helps to give deeper insight into the novels by two typical Vietnamese writers: Chu Lai and Bao Ninh
