Cultural colors in traditional brocade of Tay ethnic in Cao Bang and Lao ethnic in Dien Bien in the flow of folklore of ethnic minorities in Vietnam

Abstract

Vietnam is a country with many traditional crafts that have existed and developed for a very long time. Traditional handicraft weaving is one of those. The handicraft weaving products of each ethnic group have their own unique nuances, which are the quintessence that create the ethnic groups’ spirit. In this article, we discuss patterns of decorative motifs on Brocade of the Tay ethnic in Cao Bang and Lao ethnic in Dien Bien, to draw socio-cultural and historical values and contribute the understanding of the cultural colors of the two ethnic groups in the flow of folklore among ethnic minorities in Vietnam
