Abstract
The article leads to research on the feminist consciousness in Vietnamese laments from the last half of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. Through lamentable songs, the lyric characters are women who raise the voice of individual humans in a male-dominated society. The feminist consciousness in the lamentation is presented with the self-consciousness of beauty and talent, female instinct consciousness, and occasionally the appearance of rebel women. Although the feminist consciousness has not been expressed as strongly as in modern literature, the lamentable songs are a testament to the existence of feminist consciousness in Vietnamese literary life since the Middle Ages.
