Abstract
Gao Xingjian (1940- ) and Nguyen HuyThiep (1950-2021) can be considered as twowriters of the same generation. Both of themobserved similar social alterations and events intheir own countries which happened for half of thecentury, from the 1950s of the 20th century till thefirst two decades of the 21st century. Despite beinga universal experience across several generations, these events created incomparable impacts andconsequences. Therefore, any “coincidences” thatare either inevitable or coincidental between twodistinct individuals working in the same field aretruly fascinating. This essay highlights theprominent aspects of life, career, and writingconcepts that appear to be quite identical betweenthe two writers – two unique literary phenomena atthe end of the 20th century
