SOCIAL WORK ACTIVITIES IN SUPPORTING SOCIAL INTEGRATION FOR ORPHAN CHILDREN IN SOCIAL ASSISTANCE FACILITIES

Abstract
Social integration is an issue of concernfor disadvantaged groups, including orphans atsocial assistance facilities. Social work with thefunctions of prevention, intervention, andrehabilitation plays an important role in supportingsocial integration for orphans at social assistancefacilities. The research was conducted at SOSChildren's Villages and Birla Hanoi, the surveysample included 174 orphan children and 16 officialsand employees conducted from 2018-2021. Theresults show that social work activities in supportingsocial integration for orphans including educationalsupport and career guidance; health care and medicalsupport; and psychological and social support areprovided regularly, in many forms, and meet theneeds of children. However, there are still somelimitations such as not paying attention to thedifferences of each group of children, and notpromoting children's potential and capacity in socialintegration. Therefore, there is a need for solutionsto improve the effectiveness of social work activitiessuch as professionalizing and specifying supportactivities, strengthening connections, and mobilizingresources in supporting orphans
