The present state of development of Nghe An industry

Abstract

Nghe An is the largest province in our country (16,489.97 km2, accounting for about 5% of the country's area and with a population of 3,157,128 people in 2018, accounting for 3.0% of the country's population) [4] . With the role of one of the locomotives in the North Central region, Nghe An industry has had positive development steps, good growth rate, and held the second position in the North Central region. In the period of 2010 - 2019, Nghe An industry has achieved some achievements. The scale of industrial production value (at current prices) in Nghe An province is VND 70,247.6 billion in 2019, increase of 4.2 times in 2010. Labor productivity of the industry reaches VND 120 million/ person (2018), 1.5 times higher than labor productivity of the entire economic sector; 3 times more than agriculture. In 2019, the total export turnover of the province is estimated at US $ 1,100 million. Industrial products always account for a relatively high proportion of the total export value of goods in the whole province (in 2019, accounting for 60%). The internal structure of the industry has shifted in a positive direction, which helps to reduce the proportion of the mining industry, and increase the proportion of the processing industry. From 2010 to 2019, the industrial structure of economic sectors has undergone a great shift: a rapid decrease in the share of State industry and a rapid increase in the proportion of non-State industries, a relative rapid increase in the proportion of industry foreign invested capital. The industry started moving towards clean industries, high-tech industries, supporting industries, developing industrial zones and clusters based on the planning of socio-economic development space in an integrated manner, combining outstanding resources of the province as well as ensuring development efficiency in all 3 aspects of economy, society and environment. However, the development capacity of the industry is still at a modest level, which does not commensurate with the potential of the province, requiring in the coming time, Nghe An province needs to focus on a number of solutions to promote its role. It should be motivation of industry in the economic structure of the province.
