Modeling of quasi-elastic deformation properties of sand

Abstract

    The hypo-elastic model (HongNam and Koseki, 2005) was improved to simulate the inherent and stress-induced anisotropies of quasi-elastic deformation properties of sand, considering the rotation of principal stress axes from the material axes at general stress states. Good agreements between experimental and simulation data were observed. In the simulation, effect of inherent anisotropy on the quasi-elastic deformation properties of sand was found to be small.
