Study on gate type selection for the flood protection project in HCMC

Abstract

    Twelve (12) barriers with large spans are proposed for Flood Protection Project in HoChiMinh city (HCMC) requiring installation of very large tidal gates not been applied in Vietnam. Based on the study on large flood gates were built and installed in the Netherlands, Germany, UK, USA ..., the author propose the use of large span gates for the Project to control water levels and to allow inland navigation with water ways from grade II to grade IV when the gates opened. The Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) method is presented in selecting gate types for barriers.
