Calculation methodology of pumping head for irrgationdrainage in Vietnamese Mekong Delta

Abstract

     On the basis of hydraulic and hydrological calculations for the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD) to assess the impact of tidal and salt water intrusion on the ability to gravity irrigation of the VMD in the dry, and evaluate the flooded area and time to calculate the drainage head and time for specific regions. This is the first step to support the plan to meet the needs of pumping irrigation and drainage by motive power in the context of climate change and rising sea levels.

     Initially, search results had been given a map of irrigation head of the VMD at the period of the dry season and the map drainage head at the period flood season in the VMD.
