Water resources and sustainable Development in Dongnai’s Basin

Abstract

     Dongnai is the biggest Basin, with the most dynamic economic development in Vietnam. It plays very important roll in national economy (with 35% in GDP of Vietnam and 54% in the industry of Vietnam). Economic development and urbanization are taking very quickly (in 2001, with 48,5% are living in Urban areas), consequence environmental pollution, deforest, erosion and natural resources decay. The basin takes advantage on high level and water resources, the water resources has been using for economic development, especially for hydropower. we have distributed and plan to distribute water to other basin. But in the future, the water resources in the basin is not enough for economic development demand and environment conservation, so we need strategic plan on water use and conservation, comparing with strategic plan on soil and forest conservation in the basin.
