Current situation assessment of water quality of irrigation system in Giao Thuy District, Nam Dinh Province

Abstract

      Irrigation system in Giaothuy district, NamDinh province has a function to supply water for Agriculture, Aquaculture, Domestic, Tourisim, flood preventive and coastal wetlands conservation. But, now, water environment pollution in the system has effected on wetland areas and the living of local people. The signs of pollution such as amount of suspend solid, total iron in water, which occur from water supplied source (So and Hong river), always has an upward trend. The Polltution of organic matter in water (BOD, COD, nitrogen and phosphorus compounds) originate in waste of agriculture and people. Heavy metal pollution is found in the system, but it is not so high. However, we need to take some methods to prevent this situation as soon as possible.
