Research on scour of sea dyke with physical model
Abstract
Scouring of dyke toe in during storm can cause instability of the dyke, and no longer work properbly protecting land areas behind, resulting in loss and damage in infrastructure, people, culture and others. For years, physical model has been applied in researching scour, however study in this topic in Vietnam is still liminted in either quanlity or quantity. This report is to introduce possibility of using physical model with wave flume to study scour at Vietnamese dyke toe and also to present some results attained from a number of experiments which were conducted at the Intergrated Hydraulics Laboratory, Water Resources University. Results based on physical model test together with field measurements will be good foundation for a new guidline in Designing sea dyke for Vietnam
