Reality and solutions of resettlement from the water resources development projects
Abstract
All most Water Resources development projects in the world are involve the resettlement of people, this is more or less significant disruptions to existing patterns of livelihoods. Generally have adverse economic, social, and environmental impacts on the displaced people. This article give some the realities of resettlement in hydropower and irrigation projects in Vietnam in recent years and discuss some solutions to minimize the negative impact. This implies that affected people and communities in the short term should at least not have their situation negatively affected and, in the medium to long term, should have their opportunities for improved living standards enhanced. Particular attention is given to improve the situation of poor and vulnerable people in the concerned communities. To ensure the resettlement to new places in terms of sustainable development.
