Analysis of slope failure of the right bank of Red river, coressponding to k29+850-k30+050 Red river dyke at Son Tay
Abstract
Analyses of the reasons for the failure of the right bank of the red river dyke (K29+850- K30+050) on 18/10/2010 at Sơn Tây, Hà Nội were carefully implemented. Several methods of analysis were applied based on the collected data at field, design record, topographical and geological record after the failure and numerical modeling of slope stability by using FEM. The analyzed results on the revetment critical cross section 2-2' revealed that the main causes for the failure of the right bank was the placement of heavy sand pile on the right bank and the soft soil 2a in the foundation. In general, there was a consistency between the simulation results and observed data regarding to the shape and location of the deepest slip surface
