Stability analysis for tidal culvert in Nam Dinh province

Abstract

    Diurnal tide regime with large amplitude in Gulf of Tonkin directly effects culverts in coastal area of Northern delta. Hence, during operation, the significant difference in water levels between the river and in the channel causes erosion on both sides, with uneven intensities. This paper presents the problem on erosion of tidal culverts in Nam Dinh province and proposes a method to evaluate the factor of safety for tidal culverts during management and operation.
