Experimental study of the ductility and factors influencing ductility of reinforced concrete beams

Abstract

     This article show the experiment result of reinforced concrete beam model works under the pseudo-static load of which changing the direction. The model reproduce the working condition of beam in frame under horizontal load which are devided into 3 cataloges follow the nonseismic design code of Vietnam - TCXDVN 356:2005[9] and seismic design code TCXDVN 375:2006[8]. The result shown the ductile deformation and energy dispersion of the model and also the factors affect the ductile, expecially the shear force, the content of longitudinal reinforce and the distance of stirrup. The experiment results also show that, the beam which is designed and follow TCXDVN 356:2005[9] have a high ductile deformation and can be combined with TCXDVN 375:2006[8] to design the reinforce concrete frame to resist the seismic load.
