Effect of climate change-sea level rise to the situation of salt intrusion in the coastal regions of Red River Delta
Abstract
Climate change and sea level rise together with the decrease of river water elevation and the increase of salt intrusion into the rivers in coastal area of Nothern Delta of Vietnam is chanlenging to water resources sector. In this paper, MIKE11 model is applied to simulate salt intrusion into the rivers in coastal area of Nothern Delta of Vietnam. The computed results show that with the effect of climate change and sea level rise, the salt intrusion situation is more serious. This indicates the necessary of studying solutions to ensure water demand for agriculture production and other purposes in the future.
