The impact of natural disasters and climate change on infrastructure in Binh Thuan province
Abstract
Vietnam is located in the tropical monsoon region and often faces various types of natural disasters. Due to climate changes, natural disaster events are expected to becoming more complicated and difficult to predict, causing damages to many areas and sectors of the economy. The impact of natural
disasters and climate change on Vietnam is very serious and being an existing threat for the achievement of the country's sustainable development goals. This study applies econometric models to examine the impacts of natural disasters and climate change on infrastructure in Binh Thuan province. Two sources of data are used. Primary data is collected from households and secondary data is collected from statistical documents of sector management units in the province. The study results show that the variables of natural disasters, climate and other related factors are statistically correlated to the damage to infrastructure. The findings imply some policy solutions to reduce the impact of natural disasters and climate change to the province in the future.
