Simulating and evaluating the ability of increasing the fatigue limit of the vibratory stress relief
Abstract
The paper uses ANSYS Workbench software to simulate residual stress field generated in the structures by the thermal process and the change of residual stress field by vibration (vibratory stress relief). Residual stress field before and after vibration are involved in the calculation program to evaluate the ability of
increasing fatigue limit of the vibratory stress relief. The reliability of the simulation and calculation is evaluated and compared with the experimental results, thereby showing that the simulation and calculation method is completely consistent with the reality. The results of the paper allow to evaluate the ability of
quickly improving structures’ the fatigue limit by the vibratory stress relief, so that the appropriate vibration mode can be selected to achieve high efficiency of the vibratory stress relief
