Current state assesment of heavy metals in cultivation soil, irrigation water and vegetables cultivated in Khuc Xuyen ward, Bac Ninh city
Abstract
Water pollution in irrigation systems has seriously affected soil environment and vegetable quality. The study surveyed and evaluated the current status of heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd and As) in irrigation water, soil and vegetable samples in Khuc Xuyen ward, Bac Ninh city. This area used contaminated irrigation water from the Ngu Huyen Khe irrigation system. The results showed that Cu, Pb, Cd and As concentration in the irrigation water exceeded 1-2 times compared with the allowable limit by QCVN 08:2015/BTNMT, B1. Parameters of Cu and Zn in soil already has been close to the upper limit of the QCVN 03:2015/BTNMT regulation. Pb and As in soil are lower than the allowable limit specified in
QCVN 03:2015/BTNMT. Cd concentration in at an unsafe limitation for vegetables, which can accumulate in the products. Vegetable samples in the study area did not accumulate Cu and Zn, but Pb was accumulated in lettuce and cabbage. Some lettuce vegetables samples were accumulated Cd and As. Spinach was not investigated heavy metal accumulation, in safe rank according to WHO and CODEX regulations.
