Study on boundary between estuary dike and river dike, applying to Hoi river Mouth, Ca river, Nghe An province

Abstract

    Recently, the Vietnamese National Technical Standards (TCVN) on design river dike (TCVN 9902:2013) and sea dike (TCVN 9901:2013) have been issued and apply in designing. Connecting river and sea dike, the estuary dike plays an important role in river and coastal defense system as well as preventing flood for the upstream area. However study on estuary dike is not proper investigate due to the complexity of the boundary conditions. An appropriate method for calculating boundary between river dike and estuary dike have not been developed. This paper presents study on computing boundary between river dike and estuary dike, which apply for the Cua Hoi estuary, the Ca river, Nghe An Province, based on hydrodynamic approach of interaction between river and sea computation using hydraulics modelling Mike 11 and MIKE 21FM.
