Initial result of Study on the seeppage through heterogeneous environment at Ke Go dam and counter measures
Abstract
In the construction of the earth dam, due to the earth composition (in dam foundation) and the particular characteristics of the construction process (in the dam body), many inhomogeneous seepage environments may exist, causing uneven seepage rates in different seepage areas or uneven dimensional seepage rates in one point of seepage. In Ke Go dam (Ha Tinh province), the seepage status in inhomogeneous environments can be presented most clearly by seepage flows through downstream slope in different points of different elevations (higher than in the original design with homogeneous environments). This document presents the seepage status in Ke Go dam, analysis and assessment of the 2D seepage in the dam's body, and recommendations in order to ensure the dam safety.
