Assessing and anticipating influence of social-economic development on water usage and propose scenarios of water resources utilization at up stream Mekong River Basin
Abstract
Mekong river starts from Tibet highland, flows through Myama, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and reachs the sea in Vietnam, with total of 4000km long. Reservoirs consruction, water transfer within and out of basin, agriculture development, operation and management etc makes sense in variation of hydrology regimes. Scenarios significantly based on hydrology regimes, reservoirs clustering and social- economic development, and other are supplements, and finally 24 scenarios proposed are considered to assess the impacts of developments at up stream on hydrology regimes and salinisation at lower Mekong river.
