Assessment of global precipitation mission (GPM) products over north Vietnam

Abstract

Satllite-based precipitation estimate products has been utilizing in hydrological modelling and water resources planning. This study aims to evaluate rainfall estimated from Global Precipitation Mission (GPM) for North Vietnam by comparing this product’s rainfall with that rainfall from 68 rain gauge during 2010-2012. Statistical metric and detection metric were used for this comparison. The results indicated that rainfall from GPM product is reliable in capturing rainfall information through North Vietnam, especially in moutainous areas
