Prediction of the performance of pavement structure using warm-mix recycled Asphalt

Abstract

   The design and prediction of the performance of pavement structure according to the mechanisticempirical method are widely used in the US, Canada and Korea. This method has many advantages compared to other methods because it can predict the behavior of pavement structures according to actual damage patterns based on input data including traffic conditions, ventilation, climate conditions, environment and material criteria in the structure. This paper presents the results of calculation and prediction of the performance of pavement structure using warm-mix recycled asphalt and hot-mix asphalt using AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design (Pavement ME) software. The analysis results show that the pavement structure using warm-mix recycled asphalt improves the rutting resistance, IRI roughness, and bottom-up fatigue cracking. However, the top-down fatigue cracking increased compared to the structure using hot mix asphalt
