Abstract

Researching coral reef landscapes is important, which is the scientific basis for rational use of natural resources and environmental protection. Coral reef landscapes are formed as a result of the interaction between natural and human-made components and factors. The coastal and island areas of Phu Yen province are considered areas of special importance. This article presents the characteristics, structure, and differentiation of coral reef landscapes in coastal and island area of Phu Yen province. The landscape structure of coastal and island coral reefs in Phu Yen province is determined to include 1 system, 2 sub-systems, 3 classes, 3 sub-classes, 4 landscape types, 5 landscape classes, 27 landscape types. Accordingly, the coastal coral reef landscape of Phu Yen province is divided into 3 different sub-regions: lagoons and bays; open coastal and along the island. Each landscape unit of coral reef has different features in terms of wave regime, currents, mantel and surface sediments, with functions for tourism and services in accordance with conservation and scientific research.
