Abstract

The mountainous districts of Huong Hoa and DaKrong (Quang Tri province), and A Luoi and Nam Dong (Thua Thien Hue province) face challenges in economic and tourism activities due to their vast, complex terrain (>70% being mountainous) and uneven population distribution. Therefore, the natural geographical zoning method is a scientific basis, helping to effectively exploit the resource potential of the mountainous districts of Quang Tri - Thua Thien Hue. Research shows that this area is divided into 2 sub-zones (East Truong Son and West Truong Son) and 8 micro-zones with varying levels of resources suitability for tourism development. At the same time, to diversify tourism products in the north and center of the territory, it is necessary to focus on sub-regions with relatively favorable and less favorable resources. This conclusion supplements the scientific theory of geographical zoning, contributing to a scientific basis for evaluating, developing orientations, and solutions for sustainable tourism development.
