FLOOD VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT IN THE COASTAL AREA OF HA TINH PROVINCE
Abstract
The coastal area of Ha Tinh has been affected significantly by floods in recent years, especially the historic floods in 2020. This study aims to assess flood vulnerability for mitigating damage from this natural hazard type. Accordingly, flood vulnerability can be assessed according to the various factors such as exposure, susceptibility and resilience with the participation of 14 assessment indicators. Based on collected data including satellite images, sociological surveys, the study identified that most of the communes of Ky Anh (14/20 communes), Cam Xuyen (17/27 communes) and Loc Ha (10/13 communes) have high and very high flood vulnerability levels. The results of the specific vulnerability were assessed from district to commune level. Therefore, the article can provide useful scientific and effective practical data for the authorities at different levels to develop suitable flood response scenarios.
