Abstract

The Cat Ba Archipelago Biosphere Reserve is known for having one of the highest levels of biodiversity in Vietnam, making it crucial for the conservation of natural resources and the sustainable development of the region. This study utilized field survey methods to analyze landscapes and assess the landscape services available in the Cat Ba Archipelago Biosphere Reserve. 36 landscape types have been classified into three functional zones and seven sub-zones. The landscape service system is categorized into three groups: provision services, regulation and maintenance services, and cultural services, consisting of 31 types of landscape services and 39 landscape service indicators. The landscape services are differentiated based on the landscapes, landscape groups, and the seven functional sub-zones within the study area. The core zone exhibits significant potential for provision services, the buffer zone demonstrates an average potential for landscape services, and the transition zone shows potential for cultural services. The research findings serve as a basis for implementing strategic planning and nature protection initiatives in the Cat Ba archipelago.
