Abstract

An Giang is located in the lower Mekong River basin, which is an area that often experiences drought, saltwater intrusion, landslides... especially with a notable increase in the scarcity of clean water for daily use... Surface water resources in An Giang province tend to decrease in both quantity and quality. Objective reasons are that the water supply mainly comes from water outside the territory, the amount of water depends on the use of water in the upstream. Furthermore, activities of aquaculture production, cultivation, industry, tourism and domestic waste have degraded the quality of surface water in An Giang, directly affecting the security of water resources in the present and the future. Based on a comprehensive analysis of water resource issues, this study also proposes a number of solutions for comprehensive management of water resources to use surface water economically and effectively.
