Abstract

Cat Ba National Park is located on Cat Ba archipelago, one of the earliest established national parks in Vietnam (in 1986). This national park is highly appreciated for the wildness of its ecosystems, the grandeur of its natural landscape, and the richness and uniqueness of its biological resources. Besides the function of preserving and restoring natural resources, and protecting and developing natural ecosystems, Cat Ba National Park also has the function of developing tourism. However, the efficiency of tourism activities in Cat Ba National Park is not high, and the connection between tourism development and conservation has not been clearly demonstrated. Using traditional and modern research methods of geographical science, this article has clarified the current situation of tourism development in Cat Ba National Park; analyzing the advantages, difficulties, opportunities, and challenges for Cat Ba National Park. From there, propose ideas for solutions to develop tourism associated with conservation in Cat Ba National Park.
