Thách thức của đô thị hóa tự phát ở Việt Nam

Abstract

Spontaneous urbanization is the expansion of urban areas without any specific planning and involves the mechanical increase in population within an area or the process of spontaneous transformation of rural areas into urban areas, leading to the "stranding" of some population segments in those areas. In addition to its contribution in increasing connection and integration between urban and rural areas as well as social cohesion, the process of spontaneous urbanization also creates social and environmental issues worth paying attention to. With data sources which are research related to urbanization and spontaneous urbanization combined with information sources collected during field surveys at localities from 2020 to 2023, this article analyzed the existence of high-density population, overcrowding status, poor or insufficient drainage networks and basic infrastructure in Vietnam to clarify challenges of spontaneous urbanization.
