The impact of the US- China trade tension on Vietnam and the solutions to deal with it

Abstract

According to the IMF’s World Economic Outlook 2018, trade tensions are deemed to be one of the greatest
obstacles to the global economic growth. This can hurt other nations’ economies and lead to rising political
tensions. The trade war between the world’s two largest economies the United States and China is at the center
of the trade tensions in the world. This article analyzes how Vietnam could be affected by this trade war in the
positive and negative way. The conclusion is that the negative impacts might outweigh the positive ones. Some
solutions from both macroeconomic and microeconomic point of view have also been proposed.
