International Remittances Attraction in Ghana and lessons for Vietnam

Abstract

International remittances have played an important role in economic development and poverty reduction strategies
in developing countries, including Ghana and Vietnam. Policy makers as well as economists have increasingly
turned their attention to the effects of remittances on the economy in recipient countries, especially in developing
countries. These countries therefore have issued a number of polices to attract this external capital flow. Ghana
is one of many countries that has succeeded in attracting remittances. Hence, policies released by this country
are good lessons for Vietnam in attracting oversea remittances.
