Is gold a hedge for inflation in Vietnam
Abstract
This paper investigate the inflation-hedging properties of gold in Vietnam during the period from 2005 to
2014. By ARIMA model to measure expected and unexpected inflation, the study consider the relationship
between gold and the components of inflation. Consistent with traditional beliefs, the study showed that gold
provides a safe hedge against, especially in unexpected inflation in our country. This study has implications
for both investors and policy makers of Vietnam in the development and implementation of monetary policy to
be effective and other macroeconomic policies to use accumulated funds from gold to economic development.
