Determinants of information transparency - Empirical evidence from joint-stock commercial banks listed on Vietnam stock exchange
Abstract
In the market economy, the transparency of information of financial institutions and enterprises, including banks, is of particular interest to investors. This study, with the support tool Stata 16, will analyze and discover the determinants of information transparency in listed commercial banks. The types of information which the study focuses on to evaluate transparency include finance, governance, accounting regimes and the level of information update of each bank. The data is collected from annual reports of joint stock commercial banks listed on Vietnam stock market over a period of 5 years, from fiscal year 2016 to 2020. The results show that: Major shareholders and Corporate size are two factors that affect information transparency, and they both have a positive impact on the quality of information disclosed by banks in the research sample.
