Determinants of export performance in Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
This article examines the factors affecting exports of Ho Chi Minh City based on the application gravity model on trade. The authors conducted a survey of about 200 import-export enterprises in the HCMC. From the study, it shows that the factor Economic gap has the strongest influence on the export performance of enterprises in HCMC because beta is the largest in the beta coefficient (0.364), followed by the factor of Export Policy (0.338), the GDP of Vietnam (0.230), the population (0.185), the quality of Goods (0.128), the exchange Rate (0.096)... From there, indicate the geographical distance, export prices have a negative impact on the export performance; and quality of goods, the economic gap, the exchange rate, the export support policy, the GDP of Vietnam boosts export activities. This result suggests important policy implications for promoting exports in HCMC.
