Abstract

This study reports the synthesis and characterization of a novel nanocomposite adsorbent based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized with aluminum oxide nanoparticles (MWCNTf/Al₂O₃) for the efficient removal of Pb²⁺ ions from aqueous solutions. The structural and morphological properties of the composite were investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Adsorption data were fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model, revealing a maximum adsorption capacity of 81.3 mg/g for Pb²⁺ ions. These findings demonstrate the high potential of MWCNTf/Al₂O₃ as an effective adsorbent for heavy metal ion removal in water treatment applications.
