THE COMMON ORIGIN OF CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY AND PAINTING
Abstract
Both calligraphy and painting are distinctive forms of art in China, sharing a common origin, brush techniques, aesthetic principles, and evolving into an inseparable unified entity. The combination of Chinese calligraphy and painting not only diversifies technically but also nurtures the creative thinking of the creator, promotes the innovation and development of Chinese painting and calligraphy. Simultaneously, it leverages the cultural influence of the East on the global art stage. Within the framework of this article, through synthesis and analysis, we have elucidated the concept of “homology of calligraphy and painting” from both theoretical and practical perspectives, as well as the relevant characteristics and connotations of painting and calligraphy.
