REFERENCES TO AUTHORS IN SCIENTIFIC TEXTS IN GERMAN AND VIETNAMESE

Abstract

Similar to other types of writing styles such as journalistic style, administrative writing style, literary style, etc., scientific writing has its own characteristics in terms of language. One of the linguistic features of scientific texts is the way in which scientific authors address and refer to themselves in the text. This linguistic feature comes from the requirement of objectivity (Objektivität) in scientific discourses. Based on the research results of the system of linguistic structures used to refer to scientific authors in German, the study analyzes some Vietnamese scientific articles to find out the system of such references in the Vietnamese language, thereby points out the similarities and differences in author-referencing systems of the two languages.
