Situation of implementing social work activities at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital, Ben Tre Province, the period of 2016 - 2019

Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to describe the status of implementing social work activities at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital, Ben Tre Province, the period of 2016-2019. Methods: The research method was conducted through documents, reports, books and regulations related to the implementation of social work activities at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital from April 2016 to March 2019. Main findings: The hospital implemented 07 activities under the Circular 43 of the Ministry of Health. However, the results show that there were 03 activities that are better than other activities: consultation activities to solve social problems for patients/their family members during medical examination and treatment; the activities of resources mobilization;charity activities, hospital social work in the community. Information and communication activities to popularize legal education and training and fostering activities are 02 activities, although the hospital has implemented them but the results are still very limited. The hospital implemented three social activities at the hospital according to the Circular 43 of the Ministry of Health: consultation activities to solve social problems for patients/their family members during medical examination and treatment; the activities of resources mobilization; charity activities, hospital social work in the community. However, communication and training activities were still very limited. Conclusions: Research shows that it is necessary to supplement the necessary professional qualifications such as psychology, journalism and social work. In addition, it is necessary to create the most favorable conditions for health workers to update their knowledge on social work, medicine, organize training and implementation of Circular 43 to all relevant organizations and individuals.
