Knowledge, attitude, practice to prevent fsh-borne trematodes and some related factors of people in two communes Vu Linh and Phuc An, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province
Abstract
Objectives: Describe the current situation and fnd out the factors related to the knowledge, attitude and practice to prevent fsh-borne trematode disease of people in two communes Vu Linh, Phuc An, Yen Binh, Yen Bai in 2021.
Methodology: Cross-sectional study and quatitative research, interview 280 people over 18 years old at two communes Vu Linh, Phuc An, Yen Binh, Yen Bai from January to April 2021.
Results: People’s knowledge about fsh-borne trematode control at 20.7%; 92.9% of the people have good attitude and 70.7% of the people have the good practice on prevention of fshborne trematode infection. The multivariable logistic regression model showed that two factors related to knowledge: education level (ORhc=4,80; 95%CI: 2,00-11,54; p<0,05) and number of member in the hoursehold (ORhc=2,22; 95%CI: 1,14-4,31; p=0,02). The factors related to people’s attitudes about fsh-borne trematodes control were gender (ORhc=5,39; 95%CI: 1,20-24,17; p=0,03); and ethnicity (ORhc=3,89; 95%CI: 1,51-10,04; p=0,01). The factor related to people’s practice about fsh-borne trematodes control werealcohol use (ORhc=5,99; 95%CI: 2,51-14,30; p<0,05).
Conclusion: The people’s right knowledge about fsh-borne trematode infection is low, the percentage of people who have the right practice is average. However, the people have a very positive attitude towards to fsh-borne fluke disease prevention. Therefore, it is necessary to develop communication programs to improve people’s knowledge, attitudes and practices on fsh-borne trematode prevention and control in two communes as well as other localities of the district. Implement screening and treatment programs for fsh-borne trematode infection for people in the study communes in order to reduce the infection rate as well as break the life cycle of fsh-borne trematodes.
