Abstract

The article evaluates the impact of concentrated ownership on the financial performance of commercial banks. The data includes 416 observations from 28 Vietnamese commercial banks from 2009 to 2023. Regression methods such as ordinary least squares (OLS) and fixed effects models were applied. The research model also incorporates an interaction variable between the concentrated ownershipratio and a state ownership dummy variable. The results indicate that concentrated ownership negatively affects financial performance; however, the negative impact is less severe for banks with state ownership.
