Abstract

The concept of the “night-time economy” emerged in the late 20th century, creating a significant shift for tourism, services, entertainment, and cultural sectors in various global countries. Moreover, the night-time economy has also made significant contribution to the overall economic and social development of these countries, including the UK, the US, Japan, China, etc. Vietnam has favorable conditions for the development of the nighttime economy due to its diverse and abundant tourism resources, distinctive cultural arts, and cuisine. In 2020, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1129/QD-TTg on July 27th, 2020, approving the Project for Developing Night-time Economy in Vietnam. This article provides an overview of the issues regarding night-time economy and the development opportunities in Vietnam.
