Abstract

In 2021, the world economy recovered at a growth rate of 5.9% thanks to the main drivers such as the COVID-19 pandemic being partly controlled, the large economic stimulus packages of countries coming into play, and a rebound in consumer demand. However, these development steers were also the cause of record high inflation in countries. In 2022, the world economy still faces the risk of high inflation due to both demand-pull and cost- push factors, but this is forecasted to be somewhat tempered by quick policy responses from nations.
