Abstract

Abstract: In the process of formation and development, Vietnamese Buddhism has left many important imprints in Vietnamese history, especially the Movement of 1963. For South Viet Nam in general and Hoi An (Quang Nam) in particular, the struggle of monks, nuns and Buddhists was for freedom of belief and religious equality. The Movement took place on a large scale, with a diversity and abundance of protests. Through this article, the author wants to clarify the cause and development of the Movement in Hoi An in 1963, to demonstrate the stature of the Buddhist movement in Hoi An, compared with Buddhism in the south as an important part in the history of the Vietnamese nation in general.
