Current status of management of disease prevention and control activities for preschool children in District 11, Ho Chi Minh city

Abstract

Abstract: The study aims to evaluate the status of disease prevention and control activities for preschool children in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City. Participants of the study are 15/17 public preschools (namely Preschool 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16,  and District preschool) and 238 respondents (including 39 managers; 100 preschool teachers and 99 preschool children and parents). Survey results show that managers, teachers and children were well aware of the importance of disease prevention and control. However, there were still certain shortcomings and limitations such as: disease prevention activities for children were focused but not as much as expected, most parents were listless, material and equipment were still lacking. Based on the results of the study, the paper proposes a number of recommendations to improve the effectiveness of disease prevention and control activities for children in preschools.
